AC Repair in Hobe Sound

Same-day AC repair across Hobe Sound on every major brand. Coastal AC expertise, honest diagnostics, written options before work starts.

AC repair in Hobe Sound looks different than AC repair anywhere else on the Treasure Coast. Salt air takes its toll on outdoor condensers faster than anywhere inland. Summer storms drive a wave of surge-related failures on control boards and contactors. Humidity puts stress on the system year-round. First Aid Air Conditioning techs work on Hobe Sound AC systems every week and know the local failure patterns better than most.

Family-owned, Florida-licensed, and on Hobe Sound repair calls regularly.

Hobe Sound neighborhoods we cover

We work across Hobe Sound: homes east of Bridge Road and along the Intracoastal, the Olympus area, Hobe Heights, Heritage Ridge, Loblolly Bay Estates, the inland communities west of US-1, and the Atlantic-facing homes. We're on jobs in these areas every week.

Common Hobe Sound AC failures

Salt-air coil corrosion: the biggest difference between Hobe Sound and inland Florida. Microscopic salt particles drift in from the Atlantic and settle on the outdoor condenser coil, fan motor, contactor, and fasteners. Over time the corrosion eats through the aluminum coil fins, reduces heat transfer, and shortens compressor life. We can clean and treat the coil up to a point. If the corrosion has eaten through the fin material, the coil needs replacement or the unit needs replacement.

Fan motor seizure: salt and humidity get into the fan motor bearings and they eventually seize. Symptoms are a compressor running with no outdoor fan, which damages the compressor quickly if not caught. We replace the motor with one rated for coastal exposure.

Contactor pitting and arcing: the contactor (the electrical relay that switches the compressor on and off) develops pitting from salt-air corrosion combined with normal arcing during switching. Eventually the contactor gets stuck closed or fails to close. We replace it with a sealed contactor where appropriate.

Capacitor failure: same as elsewhere in Florida. The microfarad rating drops with age and heat exposure, and one day the system won't start. Quick repair, low cost.

Control board failure from storm surges: Hobe Sound sees lightning activity in summer and Atlantic-side homes are first to get hit when storms roll through. Control board damage is one of the most common post-storm issues we see. We replace the board and strongly recommend whole-home surge protection at the panel.

Refrigerant leaks at fittings: humidity and salt accelerate corrosion on the flare fittings at the service valves. We find the leaks with electronic detection, repair the fittings, pressure-test, and recharge.

Coastal AC care during repair

When we're already on site for a repair, we use the visit to apply coil treatments, rinse the outdoor coil with fresh water, inspect the electrical contacts for corrosion, and check the condition of the line set insulation. Coastal homes benefit from this preventive maintenance even outside of scheduled tune-ups.

Same-visit repair

Most Hobe Sound repairs finish on the same visit because we carry the common parts on the truck. Capacitors, contactors, hard-start kits, control boards, fan motors, drain float switches, and refrigerant are all on board. If we need a part that isn't on the truck, we pick it up from the parts house and finish the same day in most cases.

Dispatch and pricing

Honest diagnostics, written options before any work starts, and same-day appointments when techs are available. The diagnostic visit carries a small service call fee, credited toward the repair if you authorize it.

When to replace instead of repair

Coastal Hobe Sound units often hit end-of-life faster than inland units. If your unit is more than 8 years old and showing significant corrosion damage, or if you've had multiple component failures in a season, replacement may be the better path. We'll be honest about the trade-off and quote both options if it makes sense.
